Employment discrimination is illegal in Massachusetts. Massachusetts is an at will employment state. This means that an employer can terminate someone for almost any reason or no reason at all. It is, however, illegal for an employer to terminate or take other adverse employment actions. These include demotion, reduction in pay, failure to promote or harassment at work based on protected classes such as: Race, Religion, Gender, Pregnancy, Disability, Sexual Orientation, Transgender Status and Age.
Ms MacLellan has litigated numerous employment discrimination cases at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and in Superior Court. Due to this, she knows these cases inside and out.
